The extraction of a racing driver is a critical process that should only be performed by trained professionals. During an extraction, removing the driver's helmet is the first step, but it can place a significant amount of tension on the neck. To address this issue, Stand 21 collaborated with medical experts in motorsport, such as Dr. Jean Duby, Dr. Terry Trammell, Dr. Paul Trafford, Dr. Claude Meistelman, and Dr. John Melvin, to develop the Lid Lifter hood. Similar to the HANS® device, this innovative hood reduces the forces applied to the neck during helmet extraction, making it safer and more comfortable for the driver. The Lid Lifter hood comes in two sizes (54-57 and >57) and features black handles on an ecru-colored background. It also offers both small and large openings, providing versatility in its use.
